Acquiring Neofinetias Via EBay

A lot of the new plants don't look very good. I hated crooked foliage... haha. But when it comes to nature-related items, such as plants, it is really the eye of the beholder to how much such a thing is worth.

Ones that I find really attractive in the current set of items are: Chouko, Amanogawa, Tenshin and Sumi-nagashi. But I'm kind of on the fence with the Sumi.

I'm surprised the Higashi is going for that high right now.

I want the Tenshin, it has really nice growth but I don't know if I have $75+ to spend right now. There's a bird mart this Sunday and I plan on purchasing expensive finches. Must... hold... back... >_<

You are cracking me Matt up you sound like the auctioneer. I say grab that Manjushage it is a good price and it's in bloom. Mine comes tomorrow and I don't think it's in bloom. They just said it was guaranteed to bloom true.

One thing I've suggested before about bidding is that I think smart money waits until final seconds before submitting ANY bid. I haven't always adhered to that theory, but that's my current modus operandi. No sense provoking interest among other potential bidders. If I put my max bid out there in the final 5 seconds only a pre-existing higher max bid or the pros using automatic bidding software can beat me. Sometimes I'll put a feeler bid in in the final 20 seconds, just to get a sense of other max bids.

That said, I can accept that a good single-growth Manjushage with 3 spurs proven may be worth around a C-note. Do you guys think that this specific specimen justifies that price or up to about 120, plus shipping? Nice clean leaves without a lot of blemishes are always a big plus for me and this looks pretty good in that regard. And it has a well-developed baby growth that is well on its way to making this a 2-growth plant.

I arrive at work at about 10:20pm, so I'll have about 20 mins to get strapped in and logged in to snag this, *IF* I decide to go for it. Of course adding to my cost would be the $20 express mail option, which I prefer during extreme heat waves. Hopefully they'd get it to the post office in time Friday for Saturday delivery, rather than have it in the clutches of USPS through the weekend.

So what say you all?

Edited to add: Ginger, I was just looking at the pic on Seed Engei of the sold out Manjushage, which is presumably the one you are getting. Very nice plant I think. I notice the profile of the leaves on these has a sort of wave shape bend. what's the term for that leaf form?

I also see coffeecup has one that bloomed with 4 spurs last September. Looking forward to an update on that one.

Jayfar, I'm sorry but that $99.99 price is too much money for too little plant LOL. If you can rationalize buying--I'm not going to bid on it at all. I'm waiting for my two Seed Engei plants I bought direct from their website AND the five plants I bought from New World. So I'm a bit tapped out. I still can't believe I had such a buying binge last Saturday. Good luck Jayfar!

Aw man, too rich for me too. I couldn't get it for 120, there were two much higher bidders and one of them got it for $149.71.

Someone got the Tenshin at the starting price of 75.

Did you win it Jayfar? I'm SOOOOO impressed if you did! I watched all of these plants get up to mid-$45 area and above. I am glad Seed Engei got good prices for their plants. Good to see a couple of new people win their bids. A bidder named C***U won at the last minute. That person must have a robot as surely they could not have manually increased their bids that fast.

Will someone who has successfully used these robots please share your opinions about these apps?
