That is mild. We had snow on Halloween, so I'm thinking that it would be best for me to wait on ordering any neos. I also need to see how well my orchids survive the winter. This is my first winter with them, so I'm a little concerned. With only 8 hours of sunlight for the next month or so, and these below freezing temps outside, I'll be relying on grow lights and a humidifier. My available space might significantly increase over the winter.

Sounds like you will be in good shape with the grow lights. You'll. probably have a bunch of spikes come summer.

Acquiring Neofinetias Via EBay
Seed Engei has another set of plants up for auction, ending Sunday night. Alas! This group has two minmaru--one green, one shima almost void of green. <sigh> If I bought the shima, it would be like buying an expensive bouquet of cut roses.

That Shima is divine but.....I would kill it in 3 weeks I haven't figured out how to make them thrive. Go for it Matt someone on the Board should own that beauty we could all watch it over the years.

My bet would be the less green, the more likely to perish. Not enough chlorophyl to fuel a vigorous plant.

I don't know that myself, just an educated, plausible guess.

Agreed. I'm general the more variegation a plant has, the less energy it has at it's disposal.

Here comes the question...so what can the grower to overcome this loss of energy. I love variegated Neos so is there a different culture for them Bob?
