Neofinetia falcata tenkei-fukurin
This is the first time this one is blooming for me. I wasn't sure what to expect from my tenkei-fukurin - I'm still pretty new to the world of neos. While I wish there were more than 2 blooms, they are really nice in form. So delicate!

Beautiful, J. At least you got yours to bloom. Mine's just sitting there.
Was hoping you'd make it to our meeting with Satomi. Maybe we can get her again next year or be a vendor at the NHOS show in the future.

At least it's a Fukiran and looks gorgeous even if it sits there and does nothing!

Exactly! With Neofinetia, flowers are just icing on the cake. That's one of the things that first intrigued me before I started my collection. At Satomi's presentation at SEPOS, when she explained that the big annual judging event in Japan takes place at a time when the Neos are mostly not yet in bloom, a light went on in my head. With my Phal growing space often appearing as a near unbroken sea of green (although, thankfully, a bunch are in bloom now), I figured I should go with the flow and focus on a genus where it's the foliage (and root tips, tsuke, etc.) that matters above all else.

Thanks folks! I REALLY wanted to come meet Satomi - but I had to travel for work and wasn't in town. Hopefully I will get to meet her next time she's on the East Coast. Was it amazing? How many Neos did you buy?
I will update with more pics if she puts out new flowers.

I really missed you not being there, J. And, yes, Satomi and her plants were and are amazing. How many did I buy? Um, :thinks: 8?
Found a spike on my Tenkei-fukurin yesterday. I'm so excited! It's definitely because I showed your photos to mine.
