Default Fuukiran Knowledge Base

I'm starting this thread because I had to hunt down a post by Not Bob. It's my attempt to try to consolidate the Fuukiran information on the OB.

Please add info you have, quotes from sources or link a site.

I'll start with the Not Bob post:

Good idea Mouse!

Here is a link to a folder in my Gdrive where I compiled some info on Neofinetia for some time. You can download the files or watch them online.
- pdf files I made from website like fuukiran.seesa.net and others (huge database of photographs and info about varieties). Once downloaded, you can browse through the file and search with kanji names...
- some Fuukiran registry (Japanese and English translation) from this website
This gives a lot of info on varieties (tsuke, shapes, roots colour, flower type...)
- some conversion of korean - japanese names
- culture sheets
- botanical description of Neofinetia xichangensis
- french study on Neofinetia falcata

enjoy!

Thanks!

I'm still new to Neo's so I'm just stumbling along.

曙 = Akebono. What does Akebono mean in English? Is there a translator for this second translation?

Akebono translates to 'Dawn'. A very nice variety if you can find a consistenly variegated one. Definitely one of the favorites in my collection.

Hello LinhT, thank you for providing this information. Since you gave me this clue, I was able to Google many of the plants that I own or will own. But, I could not find the English meaning of these five names:

1. Ryokuhou. I found some reference to it meaning "both of you" but that doesn't seem to match the plant?
2. Kinboshi. I found reference to it meaning "Gold Award"
3. Kinrokaku or Kinro Kaku. No reference
4. Furan Yasuri Takuma. I think Furan means "wind orchid" but the rest is not referenced.
5. Awaharibeni or Awahari Beni. I think "Beni" is bean? Which this plant is described as being a bean leaf.

Sorry to ask you for this additional information. I really wish there is a simple source of these names available in Kanji, Romanji, and English!

Romaji translators don't work very well since romaji loses the context that is in Kanji (if that makes sense).

Here are a couple translators to try:
Romaji to English
