Oh yes I got the bean leaf and the Amanogawa. I love the tiger stripped and I only had one bean leaf in my collection. Hahaha, what a rationalization. Regardless, I think we did great today. Plus, my Hokage came from Orchids Limited.

I almost bid on the Amanogawa too, but I decided bite the bullet, rather than shoot another hole in my wallet with it.

Besides, my 2 plants from Orchids Ltd will be here Friday. I always use 2 day fedex for the non-ebay stuff and then I divert the shipment to be held at the local fedex facility. Since it's only a 10 minute bus ride from me, it works out really well. Rather than wait around and have it bumping around on the truck all day, I pick it up at 9am. They know me so well down there that I usually don't even need to give them the tracking number to pick up.

Had to look that up on their site.
$$$

"Hokage translates to 'Fire Shadow'. These produce green, yellow and red variegated leaves with ruby red root tips. The red is best expressed during the growing season in the summer months."

Very cool.

For another great bean leaf, I added 'Maizuru' to my wish list, but I don't think I'll spring $375 for a single growth plant anytime soon unless I come into a windfall.

"Maizuru is a very popular and rare division. This is the variety pictured on the cover of Orchid Digest, Vol. 70-2. It can produce very tall growths (bean leaf) over a long period of time without dropping the basal leaves."

I bought that back issue of OD for the Jason Fischer article and the multi-growth Maizuru cover photo is astounding, although it might take longer than my lifetime to grow one to that size, probably several decades.

I have seen that pic you are correct I know I do not have enough years left to grow a specimen like that. It is such fun to learn about these orchids; it has become overwhelming to my budget though. I don't know how I killed my last Hokage it must have missed the watering rotation; I have been so busy. So that accounts for me buying that one last week....yes $$$

You are amassing a good collection....enjoy!

Default We have ignition!!!

And, as noted previously, Suruga-fukurin has another spike coming up well in progress. On the Karanishiki, I count a dozen buds. Hisui will still be a while. Shutennou blasted one of its 4 buds, but we'll do better next year.

Just in the middle of writing this, I decided I should check for a scent to give a proper full report. Couldn't smell a thing last evening. Wow!!! Heavenly scent now, especially from the Suruga-fukurin.

A special thanks to the regular posters in this section for stirring my interest in Neos. I generally wasn't straying much from Phals until I serendipitously started following the Fukiran scene here.

Beautiful blooms. Happy to hear you are enjoying their wonderful fragrance. I love how beautiful these plants are, all around. From the roots, to the leaves and finally the flowers.
