I've also learned a good trick right here. As I'm doing stoneware (mostly), I'm glazing my pots and for me this is hit and miss. So I've accumulated some pots with really nasty glazing, for example sh*t brown. You guys gave me the idea of painting them. I found a type of paint that you paint on and fire in a domestic oven and the result is dishwasher resistant. Cheers,

That is something I would love to do....make stoneware pots. I've been looking for a class but so far no luck.
Could you post some pics of your pots.....please

Neo Pots are nice Part II
It's been ages since I made a pot. Finishing one up that's been in the works for ages. It's inspired by Game of Thrones.

Thx . The red paint I applied I did so with the intention of making it look like the skin of a dragon. It needs some touch ups but it's getting there. The rim will be red as well but with gold thread woven in between the spirals. The legs and base will be red as well but darker, as in a deep dark red and the rope that ties the base to the pot will be pure gold. The body will also be very light spattered with good as well and allowed to run.
I won't be using this pot for general growing. I have found that despite my best attempts at sealing, in the end the sealant doesn't hold. So I will use this one to take photos or display blooming plants.

I think that is what the Japanese do with all of those expensive pots.
Back to GOTs I am halfway through reading the last book. Will be at a loss once I finish it.

I'm considering buying some terra neo pots from NWO and painting them myself in the styles I want... have you tried that? I think I'm done making my own pots at this point.
As for GoT, I'm on A Feast for Crows now... maybe it's book five? Can't remember. Such a good series-- the author did an amazing job of developing the characters, even if they die before you settle in with them being a part of the story. lol

Have two moniliforme in pots that Ryan made. I smile each time I see them. If they are in bloom for our orchid show, they will be displayed in those pots.

No I haven't tried painting NWO pots I have gotten hooked on this polymer clay making all kinds of jewelry for friends working with the clay is relaxing. I have made bunches or pots and haven't had any trouble with the glazing they are holding up well. I really have to thank you for introducing me to that clay. Many of my friends thank you as well. I would like to learn to throw pots though am still looking for a teacher.
GOT is just wonderful I am hooked on the characters and the culture of their world. It's all politics though not so different from what we see in our world. Geez we are geeks for sure.

Red, you might want to look into taking pottery classes at a local university or community college. They usually have enrollment open to the public. Wedging clay is very relaxing.
