Forty Neos, Jean? WOW! Are you experiencing a lot of blooming? I've posted this picture of my budding Neo because it is the first Neo plant of mine to bloom. Watching its development is fascinating. I do have other orchids that have recently flowered but they have taken the back seat to this small and precious little "filament of air."
I have only eight. I think it was either Jayfar or Jeremiah or Ryan/Pilot that I blame--errr--CREDIT, yeah that's what I'll say, for getting me into this branch of orchid mania. So far I haven't increased my numbers BUT I do have carts full of more Neos at New World Orchids and Orchid Web waiting for me to check out. As to the cost of each plant? I think I passed the $15 barrier, when I bought my third plant from Orchid Web.

Kagerou Blooms
OMG, I've been posting a mini progress report on this little Neo. Today I got home and all three buds are now open. The flowers look like three little faces. They are very fragrant, the scent is like a gardenia with a little hint of orange blossom.
I want more of these plants NOW!!

Have you ever gone out and partied so hard that the next day you had a hang over? Well, after a day of surfing the internet and not getting any chores done, I ended up ordering six plants from New World Vision, four plants from Seed Engei (from their website), one mounted Neo from Andy's Orchids, and two plants from "buy it now" eBay vendors--a Baker's Dozen! I can't wait for all these new kids to arrive. Now I have a total of 26 Neofinetia falcata, one Neofinetia richardsani--for a total of 27--six of which are NOID seedlings that I've nicknamed "Basubaru".
I have got to apply some self control here. I noticed this thread was started only two months ago! Raiku, Ryan, Jayfar, et al, YOU are so right, it is very easy to get the Neofinetia Virus!

And a month from now we'll be admiring the photos you'll post of your dozen Neos.
I'm able to exercise some self-restraint – I started with 3 (plus a Sedirea japonica) from Seed Engei a month and a half ago and now I have 7.

Remember this phrase from the top of the thread on May 11?

Hahahaha!!!! I started the month of June with 7, according to my spreadsheet, and now I have 12.
Matt, you had 5 at the beginning of the month I think, right?
Drat, looks like I have some catching up to do.

Yes, you are right Jayfar, was it just a month? Yesterday was such a strange day, everything I planned to do outside, was on hold, due to potential freaky wind, rain and thunder--which by the end of the day did not happen! So I entertained myself by looking at various websites and spending and clicking out a variety of plants. I found Seed Engei's new plants very desirable, so I bought them. Then we discussed Neofinetia richardsiana and found one from New World Orchids, ended buying more plants from New World. I've been wanting a plant from Andy's Orchids and saw the mounted Neo and bought it!

Oh no! I confess it was me. I can't wait to see these two plants. Hisui=Jade and Fuji Nishiki=Fuji Bicycle, right? I'm working on getting the English equivalent name for these plants. When I do get around to making pots for these plants, I want the pot to remind me of its name.

I just got an AKEBONO 曙 "Dawn" pretty plant. I'll post a picture later. Can you tell I'm getting into Neofinetias? I've spent a good bit of time today, finding the English name, the Romanji name, and the Kanji name for this plant. Eventually every Neofinetia I own will be in a document showing its name in those three different versions, when I acquired it, where I got it, how many growths, how much I paid, at least a five sided picture of the plant, and regularly updated information, i.e., when I re-potted it, etc.
I believe that if I keep myself busy doing this kind of administrivia, I won't spend too much time on websites looking for new plants to acquire!
