The non-pot pots are tea cups (smaller one may be a sake cup, only holds a couple of ounces) with holes drilled in them (see
Drill bits thread). I get them and various bowls, saucers and condiment plates at Asian stores for pretty cheap. I've recently been eyeing individual-serving cast iron pots for when I have a specimen sized plant (erm, maybe just use them as cache pots).
That particular Amami is really vigorous, more than any other orchid I have. There are some roots that are turning around the inside of the cup (but the center is hollow-from the previous potting method?).
The fabric is from Thailand or Burma. My sister brings me textiles from her travels. Most people just get t-shirts.
ETA: I grow them on NE window sills in the SF bay area.
