Wow Marcus, your set up is very interesting. What is the significance of the large mound of moss in each pot?

Oscar, that's how the Japanese like to grow them. I've found that the Japanese style happens to work well for my conditions. The Neofinetias love it and I like how it looks too. From what I understand, it's supposed to look like a little tree on a little hilltop.
I had one in bark last year. Didn't do diddly squat until I potted it up like this and the roots started going nuts.

Looks great!!! I love growing them in the traditional Japanese style. I tried doing it but I couldn't keep the moss in the mount style. I tried using a soda bottle top as a mold but it wouldn't stay. I might need to find a better supply of moss!

Wally, try ultralight fish line (say 2 or 3 pound test. It's nearly invisible and should hold the moss.
