Yes, a lacquer finish goes on the protect the design or paint if paint is used.

I have heard that some glazes are harmful to orchids.
Hopefully lacquer isn't one of them.

It's only on the outside of the pot. I've done pots before and never had an issue so I think it's safe.

Yup me too in fact; I went to Michaels today. I will make a mess and break a "fingernail" . I have a Kinkousei coming.
