The more "affordable" shima variegated bean leaf would be Ryokouhu no shima. It's around $1000 for a 1 growth plant. That's the one that Seed Engei usually has listed.

Looking back through old posts, Neokate, the owner of the Kinkirin, stated that she got all of her Neos from Seed Engei. I wonder if she actually put out that kind of money for it. She hasn't posted here since 2010 and I guess it wouldn't be polite to ask her anyway, but hey, enquiring minds want to know.

.
Katie has a VERY nice collection. I have not talked to her in a while because she's been very busy with other things. As with many things, neo prices may be negotiable depending on the vendor and your relationship with the vendor. If you were willing to buy several extremley expensive neos all at once from Satomi, and you are a regular customer, I think she may offer you some kind of a deal. By "extremely expensive", I'm talking about the varieties that cost around $1000 per growth and up.
The folks who do NOT have the die hard neo obsession think we are all nuts. The only ones who understand the "craziness" of the neo addicts are other neo addicts

I haven't hit the $1k mark yet, but seeing the rate I'm accumulating new plants, I'll only have those *really* expensive ones left! No, no, I'm not brave enough yet to drop that kind of money!

What amuses me most is that these posts are less of declarations of restraint than they are of predictions of the inevitable.
I'm gonna bet someone here in this thread will drop serious cash and soon. Not it!

Found a kanji-to-romaji converter but Tracy beat me to a reply. 緑彩宝=RYOKU ROKU SAIHOU (I believe is the same as Ryokouhu no shima).

Not trying to be an enabler or push the new fans another step towards being broke.....
But for those of you who have at least six or twelve now and are running out of space, you may want to consider getting some rankake (neo hangers)
https://www.orchidweb.com/products/n...nger~3071.html
I have a friend who installed hooks on her ceiling by a south facing window and hangs all her neo hangers from there. They grow beautifully. Also when you have the moss mounds hanging, I've found the mound tends to dry out more evenly. Where as if you have the mound in a pot sitting on a flat surface, the bottom of the mound tends to stay moist longer (may not be a good thing).
Or if you have to grow indoors under lights on a plant rack you can do this
Trying out the LED thing... | Flickr - Photo Sharing!
That is an old photo but I have that same setup in the winter under several LED's now and in the summer, they go out in the shade house.
Also, just an FYI...
Orchidweb has only some of their neos listed. Since they put a photo and description for all their plants, there's only so much time to list so many things. Same with the Seed Engei website. So what you may want to do is keep researching on what type of neos you'd like to get (leaf shape, variegation type, root color, tsuke shape etc..whatever your fetish is) and then call Jason or email Satomi and let them know what characteristics you're looking for. They can let you know what they have. Satomi might not have time to send you a photo but she will at least let you know what she has. Jason can send you a photo of the plant from his iphone. Glenn's list is pretty complete, I think, and he can email you a photo.
