I do not even know what a neo orchid is....my wish is just to grow phals for now..I did ok with the orchid my niece got me last summer, It's still not blooming, only I think blooms start in the fall? last year it bloomed from july till dec. I do water it with Ice..

I recently got 3 more orchids from lowes & am trying to rescue them.

Given that most orchids are tropical growing plants who have never seen ice, I recommend using room temperature water. "Watering" with ice is a gimmick.

What else is everyone after? I'm curious! I decided I want to find a nicely variegated Hokage, but the ones I've seen don't look too impressive to me.

I've got Hokage on my list too (or something with some red or purple variegation). But, yes, at least the photo on OL doesn't much excite me.

And a Tenkei Fukurin, maybe.

And for more bean leafs, I'd like Tamakongo, Seikai, and Maizuru. That last bean leaf costs many beans. OL has a single growth Maizuru division for 375.

Maizuru is a very popular and rare division. This is the variety pictured on the cover of Orchid Digest, Vol. 70-2. It can produce very tall growths (bean leaf) over a long period of time without dropping the basal leaves.

I second that. It's always hard to find nicely variegated plants. Hokage especially! I saw some at the San Jose show at Seed-Engei's booth but wasn't completely sold on it when I saw the plants. It's hard to find plants that really pop at you
I also hate it when the ones that speak to you, once you see it, have a price tag way higher than I can afford.

Oh, wow, add Kinkirin to my wish list! The photo is from flickr of Orchid Board member Neokate. Now that's what I call variegation. But according to a note on one of Seed Engei's past ebay auctions of a different bean leaf: "Usually bean leaf variety with variegation is very very special like RYOKUHONOSHIMA ($1000) or KINKIRIN ($15000)" I guess that's not happening for me.

My wishlist is on various pieces of paper, Word files, tabs in Chrome and the notepad on my iPod Touch. If put all together it is probably the GNP of a small nation. I can thank you all as these lists are based on what you've posted to this and other threads.

I preordered a Hokage, Sekai, Nishidemiyako, in spike, (thanks to you, not Bob), Kogane-nishiki (killed my first one ), Minmaru-shima (killed my first one ), and D. moniliforme Mikayo-hime. The Hokage has beautiful variegation and color.

Satomi had a Raikoumaru on her sales table so that came home with me along with a cool needle-leaf Kin-no-hari. Oh, and a pot.

I brought my Houmeiden in Ryan's pot for the show table and showed his handiwork to Satomi. She was impressed as was one of our members, Collins-san, who has is extremely modest and has won many AOS awards on his and his wife's Neos among other orchids. When I showed him the pot, he said, "Oh, Pilot! Yes, I've been following his pots threads."

Here is a photo of the plants our society bought as part of our annual raffle in September (top 2 rows) as well as for our July meeting for a mounding/mounting workshop.
