Jim and not Bob, both of you take your plants for judging. I'm sure Satomi will give you pointers.
Wish I could be there with you guys.

Ha! I wish. Mine aren't even close. Sounds like you and I will be pretty evenly matched.
Cheers.

Eh I dunno, I only have two. I'm not sure if I'll even bring the smaller of the two. It's a 'Senzai' only 1 growth, and it's super tiny. What would you guys do? The 'Setsuzan' I plan on bringing, but it's nothing fancy, just two fans and a nice root tip. I'm not sure what color the roots would be classified under! Unfortunately, that is the extent of my collection

I'll send you a photo, I honestly am not sure if I'll get laughed at for bringing it

Hi all.
Somehow I managed to take 3rd place, with a 4-fan Rain-No-Hikari. Quite frankly, I'm still a little stunned.
All the plants looked really good.
The 1st and 2nd place plants were huge and I actually didn't think I stood a chance when I saw them and some others. They were easily 15 plus fan plants.
I think Al Pickerel from Al's Orchid Greenhouse took 2nd, and Susan Kolhavi from the National Capital Orchid Society took 1st.
The top 5 plants each received a traditional Japanese ceramic Fukiran pot and the top 3 received a plaque with a pocket to insert a picture of the plant. The pot I received is like this:
I'll try to post mine on Thursday. Like "Bob", I'm a bit fried between the Judging, touring the exhibits with my wife and shopping on Sunday and clerking on Friday.
Lots of people took pictures and I know I'll be sending the few I took and others will be send in for posting on the Fukiran Society of America website, so stay tuned.

Cheers.
