Default Introduction + My fuukiran

Hey all, I'm new. Big into fuukiran; sort of relearning Japanese so I can read the Japanese websites about them--God knows there's so little info in English about 'em. I'll let y'all know what sorta stuff I find out once I can read a bit better.

Anyway, I live in Boston and I have about 15 fuukiran. Right now they're wintering next to a cracked east window. Here are some of the ones I have nice pots for:

I've never heard of them but then again I don't know a lot about orchid, still learning about growing and caring for orchids, I like the pots there in and hope you post more pictures of them as they grow

Love these! Neofinetia at their best when potted Classical Japanese style! Just wish I could manage to learn the sphag mounding techniques, lol...

Also, I really love the pots. But I think my favorite is the rock mounting!

Very nice, bispurious. The pots really add to the total presentation of your lovely Neos. You need some Dendrobium moniliforme to accompany them. They have some at the Lyman Estate in Waltham...

That 'rock' is actually a really nice ceramic pot I got at New England Bonsai Gardens! It looks so natural sometimes I forget too

So pleasant to look at, thanks for sharing! What I find so special about Neofinetia sp. is the fact that even without flowers, the plant looks fantastic. The Japanese breeders really focused on not only the flower but the leaf structure and everything about the plant as a whole. That's what makes them so beautiful to me

If I may ask, do you keep them out in the open without a humidity dome/humidifier? If so, how is that working out for you? I'm still new with Neos and am trying to learn as much as I can still.

My bedroom just happens to be a really nice growing environment for Neos, but I also do a lot to keep all my orchids, which are all in there, happy: I have a humidifier running most of the time that keeps the room at around 70% humidity and a space heater running during the day to warm the room up a bit so that the temperature goes down at night. Neos aren't particularly finicky with regard to humidity or temperature, but 75% humidity is about what I've read they get in their natural environment. I'm not exactly wintering them at as low a temperature as I could be, but they're in front of a cracked east window right now that seems to be keeping them around 55F. Once they start growing, I'll move them somewhere not as bright.

Edit: another source says 40%--60% humidity is optimal, but they shouldn't really be fazed by anything from 40%-80%.

Here they are:

Nice start! Would you mind listing all the cultivars you have?
