Yellow Neofinetia - Kibana furan
My Kibana is first in line to bloom this year. It rewarded me with 5 spikes and bummed me out with 13 blasted buds. This was the last one I remounded so the moss was disgusting. By that time, the plant was already in bud. Almost all the remaining buds are open, except for two. I wanted to take photos of this before the birds pooped on it.
The buds on each spike opened up at different times. Here are photos showing the change in color as the flowers age.
Last spike to open (1 - 2 days):
3rd & 4th spikes (3 - 4 days):
1st & 2nd spikes (over 7 days):
Thanks for looking.

It's a beautiful plant, and the pot is too! Your blooms are so rich and solid, they almost look orange to me. Most photos I've seen of this one the blooms are a very pale yellow.

Beautiful ! Your plant is elegant, the flowers are gorgeous and that wonderful blue traditional style pot is so complementary with the orange flowers. You are obviously very patient with building mounds ... very neat and in good porportion to the size of the pot (most of mine go too high because my pots are too small and/or I'm reductant to trim roots). The whole combo is just excellent ! I believe there are now traditional style judging in the USA ... do you exhibit ? I also hear that Kibana (as well as other yellows) have a different fragrance to other varieties, is this something you have noticed ?
