Neofinetia falcata Seikai - then and now
In 2006 I went to a Portsmouth (UK) orchid show to pick up a Shutennou from Glenn (NWO). I saw this funny little neo and was curious. Glenn had to pursuade me that it was one to have ... and I got it really cheap (see first pick). I was nervous about feeding neos in those days and grew them on a starvation diet. For a few years this little plant grew slowly with small leaves until I started a better feeding regime. The second pic is from today and you can see the change to bigger leaves that resulted from better feeding. It flowers regularly for me now and is one of my favourites. I will update with more pics as this one blooms.
Cheers,
Tim

Yeah, I did that too for one season. Seikai is such a slow grower when you start out with a small fan. I got mine as a small, 1 growth plant also. It's only put out 2 new fans in 4 yrs.

That's a very nice looking Neo, it has such an unusual shape! I want to get more Neos from Glenn, but the minimum order value is more than I can afford, and going to the UK to get them would cost me even more....

Someday I would love to have one of the hybrids with some colour. It has been years since I have even seen a neo for sale. I once had a dawinara but I killed it. I am more experienced now, so if I get a chance I'll try one again. How often do these bloom?

Tim, thanks for the pictures and also your experience with doing regular feedings.
I am intrigued with Neo's and can't seem to make up my mind yet about what I really want. Love the pinks and reds.
How often are you feeding and is it only in Spring/Summer??
