First new neo spikes of the year!

nice!!! when my neo bloomed last year, i saw the spikes in winter. is that typical? i have a small spike on my 'setsuzan' thats been there since winter. same thing as last year.

I think it depends on your culture, and maybe also on the variety. I have had spikes appear and stay seemingly dormant over the winter and others where they seem to have appeared during the spring. Generally mine seem to develop spikes in the spring. It could just be that I'm noticing them in the spring too

I swear though that these two didn't have them a couple weeks ago.

My large Neo (only tagged as Neofinetia falcata - I'm guessing it's Amami Island due to it's very large size), has started spikes both years I've had it not too long after finishing blooming in summer, and then they sit there til late spring-early summer before starting to grow. I'm glad you asked about this, cos I thought it was strange.

I'm watching my 'new' Neo that I got last summer for spikes - spotted a couple little nubs, but I think they are new fans
