So the other day, I got an email from Glenn from New World Orchids that he'll be sending me a present. In all honesty, I figured it'd be something like his usual freebies that he'd stick in with the plants whenever I ordered one--a CD, a meikan, or one of those little Japanese banners.
Boy was I wrong. He sent me a Neo! In spike too even!
The note he and Victoria placed in the box says: Hi we were repotting these. They are morphing!! Thought you might like one.
The pot tag says "shinkoto" but I'm not quite sure what the difference is between this plant and the usual specimens of the variety since I am not so familiar with it. This one looks like like a medium-small plant, with short leaves, heavy yellow variegation on the largest growth (almost half and half with a thin stripe of the opposite color in each half). The spike is showing pink buds. I say short leaves but they almost look like a bean leaf variety. I assume that it's because the plant is probably young...though the fact that it's spiking makes me wonder...
I've sent an e-mail to Glenn thanking him and asking about how it has morphed.
Awesome!
I hope I can keep the spike alive though. I've had issues with buds blasting when I order a plant in spike so I usually avoid doing that.
