Nice set up, you will have to be careful so it doesn't get too hot in there! When the sun is out it could reach very high temps quickly. Do you plan on adding a fan?

Nice set up Tracy. I need to look into something like that to keep the critters away. For some reason, squirrels are really fascinated with my outdoor orchids this year. As much as we like watching them, I draw the line at their playing volleyball with the Neos though.
Cheers.

I was going to mention squirrels and other rodents. I know someone who lost treasured Neos outside to some rodent - they ate them all.

Yes! I am very worried about this! I've never grown in a greenhouse before so this is new to me. It's always been the window sill and under lights for me.
I leave the front of the greenhouse open. The bottom sides and the back have a mesh covering so air comes through but it still feels warmer than I'd like in there. I'm not sure what to do about the fan situation. I would have to run a cord from my house to the fan, I guess. Maybe I just need to increase the shade? I don't know..

I'm not too worried about the rodents at this point. I've had the neos outside since Spring. I only took them inside when we had some cold days. I had some buds on my Sedirea taken off by something during the Spring. I thought it was rodents but it could've been the violent storms we had. So far no rodent damage to any neos, knock on wood. Sounds strange but I have not seen any squirrels or rabbits in my yard for a while. My dogs are outside in the yard a lot and I think the rodents can sense they are carnivorous predators. They love raw meat and bones. Especially if it's fresh. I will still keep any eye out on those critters, though.

Yeah, I think your dogs will keep the critters away.
Aluminum shade cloth on the roof (outside) will keep things cooler. Aluminum reflexes the heat the best. If you need anymore help let me know.

Tracy;
Over on Big Leaf Orchids, all the Texans talk about putting "Aluminet" on the outside for their Phals. Apparently it's some sort of aluminium shade cloth that reflects light/heat.
Cheers.

Sounds like something I'll have to order online. I'll look for it. Thanks!
