Wow Ryan. That is quite a score. Great job! I love going to orchid shows like that. Not to take advantage of someone who might not fully understand what they have, but a nice offset to the $300 Manjyushage that eventually ends up in our collection.

I took everyone's advice when it came to repotting this neo in sh and planted it high. I gave it loads of room to spread out so hopefully it enjoys the new digs! Btw, how long do neo blooms typically last?

Looking good! I think mine lasts for roughly 4/5 weeks from memory, but will have to check.
PS: has you container got drainage holes in it?

That looks great, and much nicer in the hydroton than the standard mountain of sphagnum moss that this species is frequently display on. It will be interesting to see how it roots into that medium. Good luck!

Wanted to give an updated photo of this group.
 
I still need to get a full shot but you can see that the plants are really taken hold. I had a few spikes about a month ago end their blooming but then got maybe six or seven more all at the same time a few weeks later. It's almost done blooming now but it sending up new spikes again. The spikes are red on some.... Almost blood red. |
