Default Tree Fern Pot for Neo's?

Saw this listing on Ebay for these Tree Fern looking pots and it looks like the pots are used for Neo's. I'm wandering if anyone has any experience or has heard of these and how well they work. Currently I grow my Neo's in the traditional Japanese moss mound but this method looks neat: eBay - New & used electronics, cars, apparel, collectibles, sporting goods & more at low prices

$24 for a single pot, a hand full of sphag, and a pinch of worm castings? They've got to be bloody crazy! You're getting hosed. Shoot for that price, you can buy a whole sheet of Ray's EcoWeb and make several of your own inserts.

Besides, your local orchid nursery has tree fern pots. Here's a 6 inch tree fern pot for a little over $5.
6" Tree Fern Pot

Cheers.

I thought the style was neat, I wasn't necessarily planning on buying them, I was just looking for feed back if others have used these?

Becca, I do not have any experience on it, but I like the traditional moss mound on my Neos. When they are ready to be shown, I just put them out of the plastic pot and put them back into my 'rather fancy' ceramic pot. ( I never spent $100 for one of those high end Japanese neo pot, though.)

Oh Naoki, you need to get a proper pot. Marlene got me a proper one from Seed-Engei and now I'm looking at collecting pots as well as Neos.

I'm amazed at how delicate they are.

I saw Satomi has 2 beautiful perforated pots on her site, but they are a little out of my range right now.

Cheers.
Jim

Hey! How are my peeps here doin'?

Bec, when I started growing these I was told by the grower that he did try out tree fern fiber but they did not grow as well compared to the moss mounds. He said it was too dry for them.

I think it all depends on your watering habits. If you can always maintain high humidity and tend to your babies every day, then I would think neos could grow pretty well in the tree fern. I you're like me and only check on your plants every 2 - 3 weeks now AND they are hanging out in the basement where the RH is around 30 - 40 % in the winter, they may not like the tree fern fiber so much.

BTW, I haven't been doing the once or twice a week spraying in the winter anymore because I haven't had time. This winter I've just been dunking them in water and soaking every 2 - 3 weeks. I'm hoping for the best next spring.

Geez, Tracy. Where the heck have you been? How the heck are you? Happy New Year - Year of the Dragon.

Sorry, Becca. Now back to the thread.
