Neofinetia falcata 'Shutennou' - Orchid Board

I've always wanted to try my hand at Neos, but have been too intimidated. I've managed to keep and not kill a couple of neostyllises (sp?) - one of which boomed up a storm! I'm still intimidated, but that gave me the courage to try a real Neo. Brought this one home today. What do you think? Any tips? I'm sure we have Neo experts on the OB. Any advice is welcome advice.

It looks great!!!!! I have no input for you as I don't know your conditions but people report having a lot of success with growing them in sh.

Don't over-water! ATM I spray mine three times a week and I'm thinking of cutting it back to once a week. As long as they don't shrivel they'll be fine.

Do you grow in bark, moss, s/h or other?

I grow mine in moss, bark, s/h, and mounted. In moss, let mine get crispy dry in the winter then give it a thorough watering. For me that's about every 7 to 10 days.

There's a sticky at the top of the Neo forum on winter care. It was started by Glenn Lehr of New World Orchids.

Hi j, did you get that at the Lyman Estate? Wow, very nice sized plant.

You can ask the Collins how to grow these when you see them next week at the holiday party. You ARE going, right?

Hey gang;
I've had mine for two years. It's blooming has increased since. This year it has two inflorescences. I left it outside for the summer and it received a lot of water and humidity. Since I've brought inside I mist it once a day and water once a week. One thing is, this year there is no fragrance. Unsure why that changes year to year?? ANybody know why?

Mine, too, are grown in moss but I do have three mounted but using moss as a medium to place their toots in until they take hold of the wood and brick.

Yup, this is another Lyman Estate acquisition. I was going to try and go to tonight's holiday party at MOS, but work looks like it is going to get in the way again.

There's still hope.... just not much. Hope to see you tonight - but not holding my breath.
