Well, Kelo, you are not alone in this measure of crazyness! I just spent $150 CA on a Phal. Joy Spring Canary 'Rainbow World' AND, it most likely won't bloom until next summer! Knowing I can easily grow phals, I didn't have any apprehension in regards to buying it!

I don't know why it had that price tag but judging by prices for the same plant on US sites my one was dirt cheap! lol

Now I remember that this is the plant that we discussed about in another thread earlier this week, and that it's expensive because the flowers have 3 spurs!

My dad was thinking the same when I told him how one of my four new phals was $150, and another, which to him looks the same, was only $75 (still expensive in his eyes) I explained it in car terms, something that he would really understand (he is a muscle car fanatic.) I said it was like how some of the old muscle cars are expensive because they are proven to be good cars, there is not a lot of them out there, and in some cases, it was made by one of the 'top names' out there in the car world, so people would already be willing to pay more just because of that! So, that is why I was willing to pay that much for my JSC 'RW,' it has proven as a grex to be incredible and a great breeder, there isn't much of them out there, the original cross was bred by Michal Ooi, and, if my memory serves me corectly, my 'RW' is a stem prop of one of the plants in the original cross! Wow, sorry for the rambling! LOL

No not cheap, but like you said it could have been even more expensive! At NWO they sell various 3 spur seedlings for upwards of $300. Small blooming size divisions of other ones go for $650 to $850. So overall, looks like you got an awesome deal!

Its all worth it. I can see three small plants coming out; overall you have 4 plants to mature into a spectacular show of bloom in the future. I see the light brown tip of the root and the color stripe of the leaf (bu is moon shaped and tsuke is brown) so far it is authentic to its characteristics...lets just wait for the bloom( must have three spurs of tourqouise hue)
Its a good investment.

Thank you, Bud! I am eager to see them. Exercising restraint in not buying yet another will be the hardest part I fear lol!

Now I have become an enabler...dont blame me if you go broke LOL...I wish I have the money to buy such expensive hobbies...most of my orchids are found in the trash of posh hotels...trade-ins and some are given as gifts (my close friends know I collect orchids so they get me some fancy ones at Ebay)
