Well said, my friend! I forgot you had one of these. Looks like it's doing well in the bark. Keep me updated on how it fairs in bark. I may have to switch my neo collection over to bark. Congrats on the blooms. I like how it's different from falcata.

I know what you mean. As much as I love seeing my Neos properly planted on a nice moss mound, most of the new plants I've gotten have either come bare-root or just planted in moss (which was broken down) in a standard plastic pot. I repotted them in bark because I didn't have the time to mound them up properly and so far they seem to be less work overall than my mounded plants and just as happy.
Cheers.

My neos have grown and bloomed well in the moss mounds so far and I've had them in the moss mounds from the very beginning. They've been growing that way for several years now. The mounding technique looks easy but it can be tricky if not done right. Too little moss and things will dry out too quickly which can be a problem if your humidity is low. Too much moss will cause it to be too wet for too long. How tightly the moss is wrapped can determine how fast the plant dries out too. I had more time to take care of my collection before but now I can only check on them every 10 - 14 days. I'm actually only thinking of switching to a different medium because I've developed some allergy to the moss and can not work with it anymore for long periods of time.

Yes I did. I updated my plant import permit to include Neos and worked through a contact I have at the Smithsonian; I owe him big time! My plant is supposed to be a salvage collection from a construction site in Chengdu, China.
It probably would have been easier to just buy one on ebay. As fast as Chengdu is developing it wouldn't surprise me if they were salvage collections too.
Cheers.

They're getting a lot more common in cultivation. I found mine on ebay. It's a division of an American-grown plant, so I didn't have to mess with import permits or certificates.
