All these neos.... I only got my first one a month ago, and now it's out of bloom I'm pining for the fragrance. All these neo collections are starting to make me jealous. Uh oh!

Cool! Is this a division from Jason's plant? He has a very nice one with good symmetry and all. This is what it looked like in 2008

I haven't checked on it lately but it's probably massive by now.

Thanks Mandane and Rose!

Hey Tracy. I think it is a division off his plant. The lower leaves were long when I got it, but he just tore them off since he said the new growths were reverting back.

Your Yamahoko is growing nicely and a good number of flowers! Mine sustained a good amount of damage from last year's frost so probably on it's way out. Great job on the mound with the 5A sphag! It's well shaped and proportional to the plant.

Are you getting any new ones from Jason's upcoming order?

Thanks everybody.

Tracy - My brother gave me the 'Yamahoko' as a gift. It's been doing very good. Maybe we can swap some things later on if yours doesn't make it. Thanks for liking my mound. I have over 30 Neos now, so I hope I'm good at it. In fact, Jason was busy when I was first inquiring about a tutorial, so he linked me to your youtube video. Thanks for putting that out there. I have been using the 4A to make the initial mound and clean it up with the 5A on the outside to conserve it. The club up here had me do a demo on mounding and I did a few members' plants that bought some when Jason did a neo talk a few years ago. They really needed to be repotted, but no one knew how to do it.

Haven't placed any orders. I think Jason knows what I like by now. Somehow I naturally gravitate to all the expensive Neos without knowing beforehand the value. A good example would be 'Ooemaru No Shima'. I knew from when I first saw that plant that it was on another level of awesome. Then Jason tells me its $1200. I seem to have the same eye for coral too. Even my buddy who owned Cosmic Aquatics said I had good/expensive taste and I was just starting reefing. Last I was there though, I spotted 'Beni Ougi' and 'Tensei No Mai' that I will probably have to have. Jason really wants me to come down in my '91 Mitsubishi Galant VR-4 (#1899/2000) limited production car. He's a car guy too, so that's why we click pretty good. He had a limited production car too. Mazda 626 turbo. Can't remember the year, but it's like my car.

You have quite an impressive collection.
I love that you grow in the traditional samurai culture.
Your moss is perfect=clean and neatly arranged around the roots of your plants.

I'm glad the video was helpful. Yep, I hear ya. I'm the same way. I think Tensei no mai is obtainable. You can swing it . Are you on facebook? If so, you should check out a page called Japanese Neofinetia Orchid. This grower has a really cool one called 'Taimatsu'. Contorted, bean leaf. I heart that plant and must find one.
