Default Which Biogold?

Konbanwa, neo lovers. I'm looking on the Dallas Bonsai site and wondering which product to get: the Biogold Golden Color

or the Biogold Original

I'm guessing it's the Original, but want to make sure.

Can't help with the Bio Gold, but you might want to look into something known to be a complete fertilizer.

I use the MSU (Michigan State University) formula from Ray. Either the MSU for well water or MSU for pure/RO water. With it you can calculate fertilizer concentration by ppm or by electrical connectivity giving more precise dosage and it doesn't use urea as the nitrogen source. Some studies suggest the pH swings caused by urea fertilizers resulted in root damage.

MSU for well water

The formula write-ups are here:
MSU for Well Water

MSU for Pure Water

Cheers.
Jim

Thanks, Jim, I have MSU for tap water since I use Brita-filtered water. I noticed that Tracy mentioned Biogold in her remounding video so I thought I might try that on the neos in the spring. Just occasionally watering them now, but not exactly sure how long they should go between watering since they are resting. I've been letting them go completely dry between watering which has been once since getting them from Glenn.

I pretty much do the same thing. I let them get crispy dry in the winter and then give them a thorough soaking.

But watch you plants too. For some strange reason, even with shorter days and cooler temps, my Neo 'Leesburg' has decided to put on a flush of growth now with 3 new roots and 2 new growths coming from the base. So I've stepped it up to my normal active growing season fert schedule and concentration.

Cheers.
Jim

Thanks for the heads up, about your winter-growing neo. I look at all my orchids daily. I find it beneficial for me as well as the orchids.

What's your normal active growing fertilizing? Something like once a month at around 100 ppm?

Konbanwa.

I usually run around 125 ppm every watering and flush with plain water once or twice per month. I noticed this year though that I must have been fertilizing a little more heavily than I thought because my 'Choseiden' got really dark green and the green-on-green variegation is disappearing. So I think I'll scale back to 100 ppm on the same schedule and see how that works.

Cheers.

Thanks, Jim. I use 100 ppm at every watering for my phals so will do that with my neos in the spring.
