Hi all,
My neos started growing rapidly last month. Some of them were in spike. Here is my updated flickr link, enjoy

Hi Katie,
Your neos are lovely. I have only 2 plants. One is a neofenetia falcata, the plain white one. Last year I had 24 blooms (they seem to grow in bunches of 4). This year, there were only 12 (3 bunches), but the plant had doubled in size. Perhaps that is why there were fewer blooms.
My second plant is small and insignificant-looking and has refused to bloom so far. It is supposed to produce pink flowers. The plant seems healthy enough, but is not flourishing. Do you have any tips for me?
I water them regularly, allowing them to nearly dry between watering. They probably need fertilizing, but I don't know what to use. I am so afraid to over-fertilize that I am not doing it.
Any help would be appreciated.

Hi Pam,
Actually, I did use HB-101 for my neos as fertilizer. I found it from a japanese neo magazine which said it's specially good for neos's growth ( roots, leafs, color). I simply used 10 drops for 1 gallon of water, soaked it for 1-2 mins until all moss and roots were all wet. For my neos, I usually watered them once a week, of coz it depends the humidity of the moss. Usually waited until the moss almost dried out. For HB101, I used them twice a month in their growing season.
For the original one that you have, I believed it used all energy for expansion. That's why it bloomed fewer than last year. It should be fertilized in order to give more energy to grow up.
For the second one, I think I will check out their roots first to make sure they are good enough. If they are fine, maybe it's just like a baby, far behind to blooming size. From baby stage to blooming, it takes about 3-5 years. Neos is kind of SLOW growing orchids. That's why it's expensive for some of varieties.
You can get some information about HB-101 here.

Hope it can help!

Libbrian,
You are in Vancouver too ! Nice to see another Neofinetia lover here
Have you given your plant a winter cold rest last year ? That could explain also the lack of flowering.
What form is it with pink flowers ?
Can you give more details about how you are growing them (temperatures, light, potting media)

Hi Kallima,
Actually, I bought all of them directly from Seed Engei, they usually imported directly from Japan. Here is the web Neofinetia falcata/Japanese orchid/Samurai orchid/SEED ENGEI
If you have interested, you can just simply contact the owner Satomi Kasahara to see whether she can ship to Canada or not. Thank you.

Thank you for the info. I already contacted Satomi, but she does not ship to Canada for the moment. I ave other options to get plants from her, but I haven't seen these forms yet on her website... I'll keep looking !

Beautiful plants Kate. They've put on some really nice growth.
I love your Keiga, Magatama, and Ryokuhonoshima.
By the way, were you selling Aoboushi and Ryokuho on ebay back in August?
Cheers.
Jim
