Default Neofinetia falcata 'Oonami Seikai': evolution from bud to flower

After the Tougen (see other thread), here is the Oonami Seikai, very different plant, different bloom...

More photos to come... stay tuned

July 23rd : the spike 'bud' (on the left) is starting to appear at the base of the leaf (sorry bad quality, very strong crop)

Great pictures! For those who have not rebloomed or bloomed their own neos from the time they got them, these pictures help to know what to look for when a new growth is forming and you can't figure out if it is going to be a new fan or a spike! Thanks for sharing!

Very Good point Becca I wholeheartedly agree!
I searched everywhere for photos like these.. and they are superb! Congrats S.Kallina look forward to seeing more.

You are perfectly right Becca... until a few days ago, I was still not sure what the little bud on the right side would be (for several months), but it was on the plant earlier that the left one which grew into a spike . Now I am almost sure it is another spike because it is slowly becoming more round.

I was in a 'S/H period' for a while en 2008 when I got this Neo so I decided to give it a try, as the species needs seemed to be matching the S/H idea.
And it grew a lot since (see this thread : http://www.orchidboard.com/community...ydroponic.html)

I think it's because our summer is rather cool this year. I find neofinetia is quite temperature sensitive.. without a cool rest in winter they won't flower next summer, and they'll only bloom when the temperature is constantly warm
