Recently I have been trying to find a Neo that has the mountain tsuke (connection between leaf and stem has the form of a mountain).
So far I only know one form which has this tsuke, and its 'Sengaku'. Anyone that know any others?
Sengaku is the only one I know of. I Googled it and only hit Tabbie's site which I know you visit.
I would ask Glenn Lehr at New World Orchids or Satomi at Seed-Engei. I think Glenn is going to Europe in June so if he's got something he can bring it with. I understand Satomi orders from Japan periodically and could probably order something special for you.
Hello Jim! Thanks for the help, I cant find anyone else than Sengaku either, its a rare tsuke.
Both Orchids Ltd. and NWO are going to Europe this year. Waiting for two plants from Orchids Ltd. and trying to get together an order from Glen at NWO, after that I´m probably broke. I´ll have to ask Glen if he knows any.
On Orchidweb website, there is at least another one : Kabutomaru which has the Yamagata tsuke (mountain shape)
I saw that plant in person at the orchidweb greenhouse. I'm a bit confused about why Jason listed that as a have a yamagata tsuke. It looks more like an ocean wave tsuke to me and it's also listed as having the ocean wave tsuke in the Fuukiran dictionary. However, that same book also lists Sekai as having a mountain (yamagata) tsuke even though other sources may say it has an ocean wave tsuke. You can zoom in on that photo on the orchidweb website and take a closer look for yourself. Apparently, things are just never very clear cut in the tsuke department.
The tsuke of Ushiwakamaru is really something, it looks very odd. I do think I found one more with a very distinct mountain tsuke, called 'Banpo' (very odd flowers also.). I also came across a picture with a Neo that had no tsuke what so ever, strange.
