I got the Biogold here: Dallas Bonsai Garden - bonsai tools and supplies
and the HB-101 here:HB-101 Clivia and Plant Growth Enhancer and Protector - eBay (item 140355066294 end time Apr-23-10 10:56:01 PDT)
You might want to shop around for Biogold. It maybe cheaper at other bonsai vendors.
After you soak the roots, they will be much more "bendable" (is that even a word?). Then you can carefully move them downward. If they are still too short too bend downward, I would leave them be to grow outside of the mound. I'm assuming these are aerial roots you're referring to?

They probably are aerial roots...I just like to consider them regular roots growing crazy because I need all the roots that I can get...lol.

Hi Jane
I rarely see you post here and never knew you had that many neos! I have around 50 as well and remounding this Spring was NOT fun. For the ball inside the mound, I use the regular New Zealand sphag. To wrap the roots, I use the the level 5A sphagnum. You can get it here:
Orchid Web: AAAAA Level 5 Sphagnum Moss - Japan Import for Neofinetia

or here
New World Orchids New Zealand Sphagnum Moss

or here
Neofinetia falcata/Japanese orchid/Samurai orchid/SEED ENGEI

Hope to see some photos of your neo blooms this season!

Very good and informative Tracy!

I usually try and do it with a cavity inside, however I noticed that the sphagnum which forms the "hill" often tend to dry out faster than the sphagnum in the pot, guess I need more moss on the hill?
Now I just got to find som nice long moss!
