The buds on a Neofinetia don't lengthen. They just enlarge and open. The spur lengthens.
Give it time.
The spike grows two segments before the tip where the buds will form will elongate to form the ovaries. Buds will enlarge over time and the spur will elongate before the sepals split open and they go into full bloom.
They're late summer blooming. Mine went into full bloom not too long ago (a little less than a week ago).
