Yup! looks like a spike - don't have personal experience with the neos spiking - but did get a neostylis with a small spike

Definitely looks spike-ish! ....BUT these guys like to take their sweet time...at least for mine, spikes appear in late summer/early fall, and don't do anything until March, when they quickly grow big.

Hi i Jasen interesting question! Has anyone got any other pictures of their spike on a neo? as I'm hoping mine does too..but as said above they are slow & I'd love to know what a spike on a neo looks like compared to a new growth.... Jasen, I hope yours really is a spike keep us posted.

Mine spiked from down low on the plant like that and they were reddish (4 different varieties). The start of the spike was slowish (took a month or so) then grew before my eyes. I was surprised at how fast they can elongate. But the key for me is they were reddish.
