I haven't either. I hope everything's alright and she's just busy getting ready for Glenn. Was the Suikaden your pick for my reindeer challenge from last Christmas?

I've decided to take the plunge and order Benisuzume and Shutennou from Glenn for my B-day and maybe a Neo book too.

I was visiting your plant list after updating mine this morning. Wow! No wonder your Neo funds are a bit short. You have quite a list.

Cheers.
Jim

Looks like it's growing nicely, Kip. If I remember correctly, you've been growing them in this medium for a while. So how wet does the lava rock stay? Can you get away with watering just once a week during the Summer?

Does the lava rock retain a lot of salts the way the Japanese pumice does? Or can you get away with using tap instead of RO?

Our summer weather would kill anything that went that long between waterings. Pretty much everything gets misted daily during the summer, and watered with a week fertilizer solution once a week. The pots sit in a humidity tray, and act as a wick to pull humidity up around the roots.

There seems to be some mineral buildup, but only on the top of the lava rock, and it does not seem to have any effect on the plants. I've never tried RO water, just tap water.

That is a beautiful plant! I love the variegation on that one.

blooming again. the second growth is fairly large now. open flowers are on a spike on the older growth, buds are on a spike on the newer growth. a third spike just starting to form on the older growth.
