BTW, I was just told by Naoki (mollycart1) that the neo Megan is asking about is called Shi'en in Japanese, meaning "purple flame" or "purple fire" like Kip said. Naoki also said the description states that 'Shi'en' is not the formally adopted name yet.

Very interesting, I wonder if Glenn from New World would have access to something like this if it's available?

You should PM Naoki and ask her. She's going to an orchid society meeting tonight and Glenn Lehr is the speaker! She said she's going to ask him about this one. By the looks of it, I have a feeling it's one of the expensive ones. Just my guess...

Yes it converts to about $500, a little too rich for my blood! I wasn't really thinking

Hi, I took the print-out to the meeting and shared it with Glen. He did not seem to recognize it. BTW, you should have seen those lil neos he brought. There are a few expensive ones.

Yahoo has auctions????
Wow! Some awesome neos there. Some of the bean leaf look almost microscopic. And only 5,000 - 8,000 Yen to boot!
Sure wish I could find a decent translator.
Cheers.

Well, I was not going to buy anything since I killed a few before. After looking around thouse cuties, one of them was calling my name. It is "Tamakongo, " one of those 'bean' leaf ones.
Dr. Lehr had a few books around including "neo encyclopedia" written in Japanese. I was helping society members to look up a flower through the book as they pick up the plant. It was fun.

Tamakongo is one of my favorite Neos! I picked one up from J&L last year and it's doing very well, it seems to be one of the heartier Neos I have in my collection. It's so cute, I love the bean leaf varieties with yours!

Naoki, enjoy your new Tamakongo; the flowers are very cute on that one. I have that Japanese neo encyclopedia and I wish you could read it to me like a bedtime story.
Do you know the Japanese name for this one? Yahoo!¥ª¡¼¥¯¥·¥ç¥ó - 1033¢¡¡ÚäÀ²Ð/¥ë¥Ó¡¼º¬/Ķ´õ¾¯¡Û£±Ëܻƣ²/¥Õ¥¦¥é¥ó/ÉÙµ®Íö/É÷Íö
I saw one like this on a Korean Neo website but that website no longer exists

Tracy, I think ( don't quote me on this ), this is "Mizoka" I am really guessing the first Kanji (character) and the second one is "fire". It also says that this one has purple roots.
I should call my parents to look around in their backyard to see if they can find any "new" neos.
