I'd like some Neos for christmas!Lots of them. But I'm happy already to be getting Orchidwiz from the the OB contest!

If you are really into pink slippers, have a look at this phrag:
Phrag kovachii it's stunning, I nearly got a legal seedling of it a few weeks ago.
Oh no, there are 10 including Rudolf. I could give you a hint, but it would give away their secret identity.

Congrats on the prize. I'd been looking at orchidWiz when it was on sale for Orchidboard members.

Oh, I know all about P. kovachii. Unfortunately, the latest I've heard is that it's been almost collected into extinction by the locals who are selling coffee bags full of it to unscrupulous collectors and apparently INRENA knows about it and is looking the other way.

It's definitely on my want list but at $100 from Piping Rock or Green Canyon I'll have to wait a while. Although Haley Decker is pretty nice and can be had for a mere $75.

Cheers.
Jim

$100 for the kovachii?? I really should not have passed up on the one I saw! It was a freshly deflasked seedling, with paperwork, for 35€
I have heard that the collecting of it is going on at an increasing pace. It would be so sad for an orchid that remained happily unknown for decades/centuries to be collected into extinction a mere 6 years after it's discovery.

No guesses?

Okay, hint number 1.
Reindeer number 10 is female.

Well I still think there are 8+1! I love "Twas the night before christmas" and that's were the original and traditional 8 come from. Dasher, Dancer, Prancer, Vixen, Comet, Cupid, Donder, Blixen. Then Rudolph was added, and that's normal, he's famous! And if #10 is Olive, in my book that doesn't count since it's a play on words of 'all of the other reindeer' in the Rudolph song.

Now, if those are your 10, I'd like some Neos please. Tosabeni, Suikaden, Tamakongo and Gojyo Fukurin, for starters. We'll see about more later!

Ouch! You're good.

Personally I think the play on words is funny. My grand kids all sing that part of Rudolf as "Olive, the other reindeer, used to laugh...". We went on a local steam train ride to see Santa last year and Santa asks who knows his 10 reindeer and all the kids rattle them off like nothing. The adults are all looking at each other like "Olive? Where the heck did Olive come from?" So I guess Santa now has 10 reindeer.

You've got pretty good taste in Neos. Santa's going to have a tough time delivering.

Twas the night before Christmas is a great story too. I loved it as a kid and I remember my parents also had an LP record of it put to music and sung. We wore that record out. Hardly anyone I know knows it now.

Cheers.
Jim

Come on, Jim. Camille is a deserving soul. I am of the older generation and I agree with her. She is absolutely right. This is Christmas and you need to give in. She really deserves at least ONE! MERRY CHRISTMAS EVERYONE!

I'm not of the older generation, but grew up with Twas the night before christmas and it's 8(or 9) reindeer! (or maybe I AM of the older generation now? )
Olive doesn't count as a reindeer because since she's female she has no antlers. Some feminist must have added her in to make santa's reindeer team less macho and promote equality of the sexes to today's kids..

I too LOVE 'Twas The Night Before Christmas - I still have my book from when I was little, and we read it on Christmas eve every year.

Camille, for getting the riddle right (I would NEVER have thought of 'Olive'!) the next time you order (and I'm pretty sure that will be when things warm up enough to ship again) I have a Suikaden here with your name on it!

Merry Christmas Everyone!!
