That is an excellent idea! I have problems with root rot at the center of the mound, so this may do the trick. Just need to track down some good moss first, since mine is starting to get a bit funky in one pot.

Way cool!

I don't like styrofoam peanuts but you've posted a great tutorial on putting them to some good use!

I really like the curler idea too

I can never get the moss to properly wrap around a bottle top and had given up all hope of ever getting a correct Japanese potting for my Neos accomplished...but I'll be trying the ideas given here!

Thank you

Susanne, you can use EpiWeb instead that's what I have done with some of my Neos... Epiweb, orchid, and then covered with Sphagnum but you need to water these a bit more often than the plants on pure sphagnum...

Wow, thank you for such a great tutorial! I have a Neo that is starting to get a little funky looking, and I've been dreading repotting it. This way looks easy.

Another great idea!

I have Epiweb here so there's nothing stopping me now!

Wow! Terrific thread with pics and all. I don't have neofinetias but my wife being Japanese has been after me to try (she really like the pots, as she is into bonsai) I am from the old school and a little hard to understand unless "show n tell". Do they do well in the south? They are cool or warm growers?

PS I just read the "Sticky" above. Guess I should have done that first.

Don, Thanks for the WOW! I grow mine in the cool basement under lights and outside in part sun in the summer. I work at a Bonsai Nursery as my job and could not help but collect these orchids (and the pots).
