Default Good News for my Neo. falcata

We had a little cold spell come through central Florida last night, so all the vandas and their relatives had to come on in for the night. I was soooo happy this morning when misting my little Neo falcata that I got back in August, because I noticed a root tip growing from the base! Yippee!

I was very worried about this guy. I picked him up at an "import sale" for about $7.50 bare root, and I guessing he was a bit stressed because after mounting him, he started shedding roots! I have checked out the mount twice by undoing and then redoing the whole thing only to see more dead roots and nothing new happening. By some miracle, he sent me out a new nubbin! What a cute little red root tip. I am soo happy! Just wanted to share my Neo joy (this is my first one, so hopefully it will get me hooked!).

Congratulations! Keep up the good work. Starting a new genus can get a little intimidating at times. Thankfully, Neos seem quite forgiving as I'm still learning myself.

I remember my first Neo like it was yesterday. Oh wait, it was yesterday!

Cheers.
Jim

You guys are too funny!

Thanks for all the kind words. I was starting to get really concerned about my little Neo, but I think all is well now. Hopefully I will even be able to help someone when I learn something from this guy one day.
