Benisuzume or Shu Ten Nou?
I've sold some aquarium plants last weekend and I'm thinking about getting my first Neo from New World. (Still working on Marlene.) I'm torn between 'Benisuzume' and 'Shutennou'. Which is everyone happier with over all?
I'm leaning towards the 'Shutennou' for a redder pink but the specimen pic they have of 'Benisuzume' looks pretty impressive too.
Also, knowing there is variation among plants of any variety and reading some posts of a little disappointment in the color received, if I called and asked for a "Benisuzume' with flowers as close to the one in the pic would they accomodate me or just pick any healthy one from the block?
Thanks.
Cheers.
Jim

OOOOH CooooOOoooool!
I'd tell Glenn that I was torn between the two and ask him to choose the best one. . .
I am so excited for you!
But I love my Shuttenno!

I had to make the exact same decision as you in April, when I had to order the plants Glenn would bring to England! After much hair pulling, I got Shutennu. Don't ask me why! But sometimes I think that I should have gotten Benisuzume instead because it is pinker, but I really like the red pedoncule on Shutennu.... I think I'll have to get Benisuzume next!
My word of advice: Get both!!! That's what I should have done.... And they are not very expensive Neos.

What didn't you like about it? I find it super pretty, but then again I haven't seen it in person!

the shape of the flowers was a bit dissapointing, and also the colour not as intense as expected (I know, it depends on light and temp and and and... but anyhow, I am not very happy with it, but it stay with me so, don't even think of asking for to send it to FR or NL!! )

Jim,
I voted for Shutennou for you. From what I've heard, it seems to bloom more often than some of the other ones. I think some of the photos of Benisuzume are misconceiving. It really doesn't look that dark pink in person. The one I've seen at the greenhouse looks more like Ramon's. I think Benitengu is one of the "more pinkish" and darker pink ones out there. If my memory is correct, it's also very expensive though. You won't have to worry about selling your kids on ebay for this. I guarantee Marlene will sell YOU on ebay.
