Neo photo website

I came across this Japanese photo website while searching for Neo. 'Komachimusume'

As well as this one from Tabbie's Garden. She is a Neophile as well. This is a plant I think would please a lot of us.

I looked through these 2 websites several months ago too. I' don't know if you had the time to look through all of Tabbie's posts but she's got some awesome neos as well.

Yes, I spent a fair amount of time reading through her posts and had fun watching her "Tips for purchasing a Neo" video on YouTube. She's got a collection most of us can only dream of. She is a true aficionado based on her descriptions of selecting plants based on it's tsuke among other factors. And apparently she knows Dr. Lehr rather well from her write-up of 'Manazuru'.

Definitely one I could learn much from.

Yep, the different tsukes and the root tip colors and the most interesting parts to me! Ones with the yamagata tsuke are a harder to find but not unattainable. They're harder to see in pictures but if you can see one in the flesh, I think you'll agree it's super cool! I have one with the yamagata tsuke and it's one of my favorites.

I've been to both of those websites! LOL

I check Tabbie's Garden everyday. . .I love the writing and the photos! She's got some terrific Neos!!!!!

I really enjoy the different tsukes and root tip colors too, just as much as the flowers!

Not many pictures of the flowers though. But its by far the largest Neo collection I have ever seen (just got new pictures up of it I see )

Did you guys see this one in the Fenglan Index? Is it really a Neo?? It's freakin' fabulous!

According to the site's Chinese name, it is called "no name". I think it is an unnamed wind orchid since it is listed on the FengLan (wind orchid) site.

Neofinetia falcata is a species name of wind orchids (Furkiran or Furan) ref. Neofinetia falcata -- samurai orchid

So, I think it is neo (unnamed).

Please correct it if I am wrong.

The site does say "fenglan" however, some of the pictures on the bottom row are of Sedirea japonica (Aerides japonicum). So, I'm not sure that they are all pictures of Neofinetia.

Since you can read Chinese....

Fenglan is the chinese translation of Fuuran, which as you already know means "wind orchid"

Do you speak cantonese or mandarin?

Fuukiran is the japanese word for "rich & noble orchid".
Translated to cantonese it is:
Foo = rich
kway = noble
lan = orchid

All Fuukiran are Fuuran but not all Fuuran are Fuukiran. Only Fuuran that are appreciated for their unique traits are given Fuukiran status.
