Really LOVE this photo, Gweniran, especially the pot and the way it's potted up. This looks a little different from your other ones. I thought you grew yours in bark mix with sphag on top? Is this one in the traditonal moss mound?? Either way, I'm lovin' this one

This was potted up by Glenn at New World Orchids in the traditional Japanese moss mound. He sent it to me in that pot!

I think it's just exquisite! And just so you know, that pot is TINY. . .maybe 3" x 3"!

I love the mounds because every now and then I drop one of my neos on the floor while watering them at 6:30am. It goes rolling, I pick it up, it's fine. As long as the actual plant doesn't hit the ground first, no fuss, no mess.

Are you kidding! I love it! I prefer this look absolutely but mine do not do well in the solid moss mounds. They might do O'kay with the type that has the hollow space. . .I haven't tried that yet!

But I've already transplanted it, back into the pot, with bark chips and moss topping. . .hated to do it but I want it to grow up and be a bloomer!

That's soooo funny about yours rolling and protected in its little bouncy cocoon!

If you do get ANOTHER one....you should try doing one up in the traditional mound w/ the cavity using a water bottle. Just for giggles, maybe? You don't even need 5A grade moss unless the plant's the size of a baby's head. As long as it's quality NZ sphag, the strands are usually long enough to work with. May not be as easy as 5A but definitely doable, especially with minis. My 1st one took me 2 hrs. When my giant fan gave up on me a month ago I ended up re-mounding all of them (didn't have time to get a new one right away). With all the practice, it's not so hard anymore. Be nice to find some instructional video to put as a sticky.
