Neofinetia falcata Kinkosei, Golden Stars on Leaves

Hey Shams! Sorry, can't help out with the mountain green. I'm more obsessed with the leaf varieties and the irregular flowers. However.....

Since you're looking for a beaner, here goes....you ready for this?

Kinkirin - short, horizontal (non curvy) leaves with the shima variegation. very distinct yellow & green bands, beautiful!

Kujyakumaru - short upward pointing rasp leaves. I have a pic of Jason's plant that I can show you guys later.

Jukai - looks just like Sekai, smaller than Unkai with white flowers similar to Unkai.

Seiyukukai - looks exactly like Sekai with the curvy leaves and about the same size but has some shima variegation

I could go on forever with this list so I better stop now. No clue on prices though. FYI Shams, I'm one of the crazies on OB when it comes to Neofinetia so you probably shouldn't listen to me.

... LinhT..... I don't remember if you around when we started the Neo project...... but I drove 4 hours each way to MICHIGAN because I couldn't wait for NWO to make their trip to Canada to ship plants. Believe me.... craziness, I am used to

OMG! You have some fanastic plants!

So this is my shopping list so far....

Hisui - Green flowers, contrasting white lip.
Suikuden - Green flowered plant. Curved, bean-leaf foliage
Yamadori Midori - Mountain Green
Yamadori Shojou - Mountain Red
Seikai - Short, bean-leaf type with curved growth. Single growth plants.
Momo Hime - Peach Princess - Narrow green leaves, white to even, light pink flowers with bright pink peduncle. 4"
Ogonmaru - Yellow-orange flowers. 3"
Kinkosei - Golden Light Star - Unusual markings: small, almost transparent areas on leaves.
Hanagoromo - Clothes of a Flower - Golden yellow on most of the leaf.


.... now... I need to whittle it down to a couple hundred $$

That right there. . is the challenge. . .where the SKILL comes in. I would get two less expensive ones, the Kinkosei (white) and the Suikadan (green) and one expensive one, maybe the Ogonmaru (yellow-gold). And if you have any money left over a moniliforme!




I think my next one will be the Shunkyudan. . .next spring!

Gwen, GREAT pot for your Kinkosei!! That's so beautiful! I can imagine what it looks like in person - folks, the photos of this plant just do not do it justice!!

Shams, from your list, I would be with Gwen and choose the Kinkosei and Suikaden and then an Ogonmaru. But then, I have always admired Gwen's good taste!!

From LinhT's list, I have Kinkirin on my wish list - totally awesome!!

Ok.... so I can maybe get my list down to $240.... but I have another 2 months to keep changing it

I am interested in the ones on LinhT's list, but I am limiting myself to New World Orchids, since I'll be driving to Michigan again, and it's easy. Actually... I wouldn't have a CLUE where to find any of those anyway.... got any sources LinhT? You know... for later?

Shams, since it's easier for you to buy from Glenn, you might want to email him about those varieties. From what I understand, he is willing to pick up plants for customers during his trips to Japan several times a year. Even if it's not on his list, he can find it for you. He's such an awesomely nice, super guy! Unfortunately, this means you have to WAIT .

Bottom line is, those ones on my list will only be available through Glenn at NWO or Jason at OL. Jason only has about half of his neos listed on orchidweb.com so you'd have to email him at orchidweb to check on those varieties. He's sold out on Kujyakumaru but he may have the others. Every time I want one that I think he does not have, he usually pulls it out of somewhere and I end up going home with about 5.

October 3,4,& 5 is the Quail Botonical gardens orchid show here in Carlsbad California. Seed Engei is scheduled to be there and I plan on making a few purchases, first a Kinkosei and then any ruby tipped root Neo's they might have.
