Ok I will. If anyone knows what this is called I would love to know, I even sent out a message to the tiny Japanese woman I bought it from.

Here are two more that weren't on the list. First one is neo falcata miyakohabutae'. Second is a neo falcata senzai.

Higashide Miyako Update:
The little plants look happy, and instead of being just the 1 fan as of December 2012, it is now 4 fans. Gratuitous amounts of light and the heat of south Florida have mutated it, or at least cultivated a different gene expression. It started off the reverse variegation as the original plant, meaning it has a white center with a green edge, but that only happened to the first two leaves, then it started to revert to the original pattern, but failed. Half of one leaf is green with a white tip, and the other half is white with a green tip. Does anyone know if this new plant has a name?

Hello ovanoshio! Sorry you didn't get a reply to your most recent post. Whatever your plant would be, it is a beautiful plant. I am not a Neofinetia expert, but from what I can tell from your pictures, you might have a Higashidemiyako 東出都 "East Side of Kyoto", or a Gojo-Fukurin 御城覆輪 "Honorable Castle", or a Fugaku 富嶽 "Wealthy Mountain". Your plant looks like any of these three. I own these three plants and I'm comparing your photos with them.
Whenever I come across a NOID plant, I do a lot of searching and watching for similar looking plants. I post pictures of the plant, like you have done. When I find a similar plant, if it is for sale, I buy it and then compare both plants. This is not the best way to ID a plant as you might end up with a lot of plants!! You are fortunate in that you live in southern Florida and there are many orchid growers and orchid societies you can consult. Where I live, my orchid society is so small that I'm considered the Neofinetia expert!!!
Neofinetia collectors place a lot of value on an identified plant. I see evidence of that by how plants are listed on eBay. Vendors offer a named plant for several dollars more than a plant that is listed as a "pink flowered" Neofinetia falcata species.

There are so many possibilities aren't there of what this plant could be? Another possibility could be Suruga Fukurin. And to complicate matters even more, your plant could look very different from another plant of the same name if it receives different light intensity or culture.
Either way it's pretty.

It's a Higashide miyako, the question was about the changes the plant underwent in high light and high heat. This is actually very comparable to the island of Miyako which is far to the south of Japan, and the origin of the variety is the east side of that island.
*Though now I am confused, because there is also a city called miyako on the main island of japan, not anywhere close to Okinawa where the island is, and Kyoto isn't really near either of them. So I have no idea now where exactly it is from other than the name.*
It likes the east side of South Florida, hasn't bloomed in the year that I've owned it, but it went from 1 fan to three fans and a dormant bud which should bloom next year. There is a new issue...and it is that the plant doesn't seem to be resting since new leaves keep growing and emerging, even though the bud is clearly on pause until spring. So I think I will continue to culture it outside and see how it does.

Hello ovanoshio, glad you found out that your variegated Neofinetia is a Higashidemiyako 東出都 "East Side of Kyoto". This appellation describes its history as a plant from the old feudal capital of Japan--Kyoto. Today this is known as Tokyo.
There is a companion plant, a little harder to acquire, known as Nishidemiyako 西出都 "West Side of Kyoto".
You were mentioning how your plant's leaves or growths were turning different stripes or coloration? Consider this narrative from Seed Engei: "HIGASHIDEMIYAKO is good for starter Neofinetia because they are very strong and reasonable. But they still have wonderful white variegation to be appreciated. Even the season of non-flowering you stil enjoy their great variegation. When stripe of HIGASHIDEMIYAKO changes to yellow color from white, it is called as KOTOFUKURIN. Mutation of Fukurin variety is another enjoyment of Neofinetia however it took long long time as you know. (and it is not 100%)"
These descriptions and varieties are so fascinating.

Thank you Matt, the explanation I've found is that before the 11th century Kyoto had the different name of Miyako, but instead of changing the name of the cultivar to higashidekyoto they just left it as it was.
The main plant doesn't look like the other higashidemiyako photos I can find, because now the new growth on the main plant has white lines throughout the green, and the reverse variegated one turned out to have a half ghost/half regular variegation, but the other younger fan is doing the reverse variegation too! I will have to email Cheiko to see if these changes have names.
