New Neofinetia Forum at Orchid Board!
Neos now have their own section of the forum!!
Wow! This is a wonderful place!
Several members and I have a plan - minor details of which we are still working out - to showcase different varieties of Neos and Neo hybrids. I hope that everyone joins in - and especially the people who were in the Neo project! I think we all want to see more of those photos!
We hope that this can become a great reference for people - whether they are new to the wonderful world of Neos or already Neo growers - to find new and interesting varieties, share experiences about the plants, get questions answered, and share their successes and of their Neos!
Thanks to Marty and our Mods for really making this place super friendly and adaptable! I am so thankful to them, and to the friends I have met here on Orchid Board!
I'm going to go back to now for a bit!

Here's what I am thinking:
In the title: Japanese Name, Leaf Type, Flower Type
For example:
Kinrokaku, Tiger Striped, White Flowers
This will allow us to do a search and pull up all the similar types. . .like all tiger striped varieties. . .or only white blooms. Cool eh?
Try to get a least four photos. . .you can edit your post to add them later as you are able to get them.
1) Overall photo of the plant
2) Photo of the leaf type
3) Photo of distinquishing characteristic (curvy axis, for instance)
4)Photo of the blooms
I am so excited! Thank you so much OB team!!

Then anyone who has the Kinrokaku, would add their photo to that particular thread.
Being sure to add their Best Culture Tips: Location
Whatd'ya all think?
Edited to add: I've posted a first example. . .Shutenno.

Gwen, the 'Best Cultural Tips' is an inspired idea! What a great way to collect information about growing requirements - and highlight the diversity of conditions that these little plants can grow in!
PS. In order to search, the info/key word doesn't need to be in the title, just in the post somewhere...
I would also suggest that we add in to the post alternate spellings - there seem to be quite a few for some of them... so for Shutenno, put 'Shu Ten Nou' somewhere, so it will come up no matter what people search on....

GREAT idea. . .all those spellings do come up a lot! I'll add alternate spellings to my posts, as I see them.

I want to say a big THANK YOU to Marty and our Mods, and to those who transfered all the neo threads, no small task.

This is such a wonderful place - I don't think any other place has a forum for discussing and showcasing Neofinetia. I am sure that having this special place to discuss Neos will tempt all those other Neo collectors out there to join OB and join in the discussion!
