New Neos - Orchid Board

Here are some of the new Neos I've added:

Fugaku - this plant is still small, but it has particularly nice variegation in the leaves so far:

Kinkosei - this is such a neat thing... the spotting on the leaves is very consistent and when held up to the light, they are translucent. Really awesome plant!

Setonotrugi - this is one with very, very twisted leaves... there is a photo of the flower in one of the Neo books - its really wild and different as well. I wish there were a picture on the web that I could link to. I will definitely be waiting for this one to bloom so that you all can see!

Last, but not least, Seikai - a classic collectable Neo. It has really cool curved leaves, and also quite different flowers that cluster together...

I also got Syunkyuden, and Tosabeni - but they all look 'normal' until they bloom.

Oh WOW! That Fugaku is amazing. . .reminds me a lot of your variegated Sedirea! Super nice.

And that Kinkosei! I didn't know I would like this one so much. I've only really read about the transparent areas. Adding that one to my wish list too!

I do not yet have a twisty one. . .this one is going near the top of my wish list, Setonotrugi. Will the flowers be white?

Is this the miniature one, that's even smaller than the Suikadan? I've got the Suikadan and LOVE it.

Think I'll eventually have to have the Syunkyuden, too. . .that's the one with all the extra flower parts. Really pretty blooms!

And the Tosabeni is a red bloomer?

LOVE LOVE LOVE the pottery, of course.

Gwen, I wasn't at all taken with Kinkosei from reading the description - or seeing other photos of it - but in person, this one was really awesome. Such a cool plant.

The flowers on Setonotrugi - from the one photo I have seen - are really twisted and contorted as well. Not what I would describe as 'pretty' but definitely really different. They are mostly all white, with tiny edges of red/pink colour.

Seikai very small - yes, smaller than Suikaden. Here is pic of it in flower: http://www.newworldorchids.com/images/sekai1862.jpg

Yes, Tosabeni is a new one that Glenn got on his last trip. It is the red flowered one... though I'm not sure how 'red' red is for Neos. We'll see though!

LOL! I need more pots to put the other ones in! Going to check and see when the next batch from Vic will be available... vicious cycle, this, pots -> orchids-> more pots...

The Setonotrugi is going to LOVE that pot you've got it in!

There is something about the shape, the amount and/or the location of the air holes but I can vouch for it. My Neof. has a pot that's very similar and it is doing super well in it! Very happy.

These neo's give such beautiful flowers, But the plants themselves are very nice aswell. Love the pottery.

Gwen, I have noticed that the Neos do really love the Erin pots. You're right, I think it is the combination of the shape and the extra air holes. I guess Neos aren't called 'Wind Orchids' for nothing... they seem to love to feel the air on their roots.

Thanks, Gloria! Yes, one of the reasons I was so blown away with the Neos was because even out of flower, you can have something that is so pretty to look at. The combination of the Neos and the pottery combines two of my loves - and its all thanks to our OB Project, and our special friend, Gwen, who found Erin pots in the first place!
