more variegated neos
Edited 9/16/08
Grown in St.Paul, MN
8 to 10 inches under T5's
low 70's day temps, high 50's night temps
around 50% humidity
I love these things so much, just had to share a few more.
Setsuzan started to spike a week after I got it. 2 more spikes just emerged. Has a clean light jasmine scent. What a good little bloomer!
I got Akebono in bud so no work here. The marginal variegation on this is unique because the green is on the edges.
Variegation on Kansetsu is hard to see on here as it's only on the top few leaves but the white on it is VERY white. It also smells different than the other neos. Also came in bud.
Suruga Fukurin has the nice marginal cream. Already finished blooming by the time I got it.
That's it! For now...

Wow, I love your collection! Kansetsu is really nice - and that's really great variegation on your Akebono.
Thanks for sharing these with us!

Very nice, thanks for sharing.
I think that quite a few of us have gotten addicted to this fine little orchid and own more than one.

Thanks, guys, glad you enjoy the pics.
Hey Mike,
Now that I think about it, the mini you told me about might be 'Kuro Shinjyu' (Black Pearl). There is a Black Pearl and a Jade (Hisui). Does it look something like this?

I am really enjoying your Neo pics! I just love all the different varieties!
Nice tiger striping on the Setsuzan and green margins on the Akebono!
Strange how the Kansetsu only has the white variegation on the top leaves and then disappears as the leaves age. Have you tried increasing the light to see what happens? If anything.
Suruga Fukurin looks great too!
So glad you took the time to post the photo for us!

Hey LinhT,
I knew I was close on the name, we talked about both of those and I mixed/combined the names, they are both beautiful orchids and I plan on adding one to my next order.
Thanks, Mike

Hi Gwen!
It's hard to see in the pic but if you look closely (squinting) you may see some red, purple tinge on the white parts of the leaves. My grower told me Kansetsu has to be grown in pretty low light for the red tinge to not show up. However, I'd rather have more variegation and risk the red tinge. So, yes, I'll be bumping up the light.

Where do you get these plants. I have never seen variegated neos offered for sale outside of japan, and I dont think I want to pay 1000-5000 a growth for a midget with a stripe.
