I've had Houmeiden for about a month now and it's grown a new aerial root plus a new leaf is emerging. The new fan is moving right along as well. The ones with the ruby colored roots are sooo cool.
Neofinetia falcata 'Houmeiden' (Bountiful Bright Palace)

Orchids Limited
Namiba leaf (common form)
Tsukigata tsuke (crescent)
top leaf always stays all white or partially white

Guess what, guys? Akebono might have the ruby colored roots too If you don't have one of these with the ruby roots yet, you just HAVE to get one. No picture can do the true color justice.

I want a ruby rooted one too!!! Or maybe 2. At least I'm safe for now, I don't know where to get these here. But watch out when Glenn comes to England next May.....

Yeah, I know some of these things are so crazy expensive. I called Glenn on Monday to place an order for some Dendrobium monoliforme. We were talking about Neo. falcata 'Mangetsu' and I guess he had one there for $2500!!!
Camille, I hope Glenn's able to hook you up with some thing small and affordable. He's a really nice dude. Remember to show all of us what you get if you end up buying.

I give up! I have tried to type this message three times now, and each time the kitten jumps up and the message gets erased!
Shorter version - before the kitten comes back to play.... is there a list of the ones with ruby red roots (as opposed to just red)? I have some here that are definitely red (Ramón you have one - Shutenkaku had nice red roots this summer when it was in growth) like Amanogawa - though I don't really like the plant itself because the tiger striping looks like the leaves are damaged. It is a big plant, though, as big or bigger than the Amami Island types.
I have an Akebono here (yes, singular, just one). Though the variegation is not anywhere as nice and consistent as LinhT's.
Is there a list of ones with the ruby red tips?

I just looked up the price of the Houmeiden on NWO. It is WAY out of my price range!!!
For now the one I really want is Tosabeni, with red blooms!

which one you mean? Shutenkaku or Amanogawa? don't tell me it is Shutenkaku, I don't like that weird "sick looking" leaves either...

Camille, that's also the reason why it in my wish list and not in my collection list I saw one here in Switzerland at a show: 500 CHF (about 500 $) for a 3 g plant.. way too much for me now...
