Swamper, have you found one yet that you didn't want? Let me know if you do because I sure haven't! They all hit the wish list, just not always in the same spot....

Roly, I am growing mine like a vanda (not potted). Roots are hanging in the air inside a glass vase. I put a little moss at the bottom and keep it wet. The roots hang down and just touch the moss. I keep in in the bathroom so I just rinse it good every 2-3 days. It has doubled in size since I got it at the Redlands show in May.

Any pictures, I might be wanting to try this method out for one of my babies.

Don't forget to share pictures ...but probably best in a different post so we don't hijack this one

Hi Roly -
Neo. falcata is kind of sensitive to heat, so it is probably happier in your home than it would be outside (a lot of us try them here - they croak!). I have a couple of hybrids with falcata in them, and they do tend to shed bottom leaves before getting new growths at the base.
When the weather cools off a bit (January?) try it outdoors for awhile; it will probably appreciate the extra light, air and water.
Good luck - Nancy

I have not found Neofinetia falcata to be particularly sensitive to heat. Our summers can go up to 100+ F. In my growing area/porch, it is probably closer to 90 F to 95 F during the day in the summer.

I have not had issues with losing leaves unless it was stressed from severe root damage, (either under or overwatering).

I had a lot of the leaves drop on my Neofinetia falcata about 1 - 2 years ago from severe neglect. I was able to save it before it went out completely. It is coming back nicely.
