Help me identify my Neo's nubbins! - Orchid Board

My project Neo (Neo 'Shutennu') seems to be finally waking up and recovering from its travels. A few days ago I noticed a new growth, and these 2 nubbins. I'm guessing that the bottom one is a new growth but what about the top one growing right above the bottom leaf? And where do spikes grow from on Neo's?? It would be nice to have a spike, since the first one blasted while traveling all over the world!

EDIT: Yes, I know that the moss looks very wet. I watered right before taking the picture (that's how I noticed the nubbins in the first place!)

the upper one def looks like a spike starting to form. can't really see the lower one well enough to know if its a new growth coming up or a spike. def don't think its a root though. i think your gonna be gettin some blooms

Camille, That top one definitely looks to be in the right place for a spike! I can't wait!!

I dont know, looks like a root pushing out from between the leaves. I have one that has roots crawling out of leaf joints just like that. Spikes usually emerge from the upper leaves on newly matured growth. But this could be a bloomer, Sometimes you look from one day to the next and bam theres a spike!!!

Paul, the lower one is much pointier than the upper nubbin, so I think it's a growth, especially since it's coming from trhe base of the plant. Do spikes appear only above the lowest leaves, or elsewhere too?
No signs of life on my other Neo ('Fugaku'), other than a little root showing up.

Here's an update on those nubbins. Looks like we were wrong! The upper one looks like it's a growth, and so far (

) the lower one looks like a spike. How long does it take for them to develop? The've hardly grown in a month! But, there are really nice roots growing, so I'm happy anyways.

Camille! Thanks for posting an update! I will keep my fingers crossed as well. Its great to see the progress, and will be really helpful for future reference to see just how these two nubbins turn out!!

Here's another update on the nubbins, nearly 1 month later. I think it's interesting to follow their development!

They are growing painfully slow. The upper one has a nice leaf growing, and the lower one is now looking like it's a growth as well, since it looks like the tip of a green leaf is coming out.
BUT, I found a nubbin further up on the plant.

Since I really can't imagine a new growth starting that far up, I'm praying for a spike. And the color is a bit different than the previous two.

Camille, Those progress photos are great! I'm loving it being able to follow along. Your plant definitely looks like it is one happy little thing! (I've got still got my fingers crossed that you get a spike!)
