Hey, absolutely no need to apologize, Mike. No offense taken. Just don't want you to think you're "missin' out" on some of the neo fun.

Gwen, have you seen any of Glenn's Manazurus? Do you know about how big those things are? Like 2 or 3 inch leaf span?

No, I've only seen pictures. I am thinking it's small, around 2 or 3 inch leaf span.

I'll ask Glenn, I would love to know too. That one is a beauty!!!!

Hey Gwen, now that it's summer, are you still running your humidifier all day? I've had the AC, huge fan and the giant humidifier on just about every day. I feel horribly "un-green". I think my neos feel great though. Have you grown any of yours in 50-55% humidity? Any difference in growth?

Hiya LinhT,

I have to grow all of my orchids enclosed. The humidity IN my house is so low that it doesn't even register on my hygromter!

So I have all my Neof. in a plastic covered grow rack. In there, I have T5 lights, two good sized fans 24/7, and a humidifier.

So my temps get about 80 at the highest and I keep my humidity around 60% but could probably go a bit higher.

I think I'll try 70% and see if I have enough fresh air circulation to pull it off!

Hiya Lucky,

This is all about experimenting. . .and everybody has to try out different combinations of conditions to see what works . . .what makes our orchids happy!

Don't you worry about doing it "right". . .there is no just one right way! If you're orchids are happy, you did all the right things for it.

Thanks for the encouragement, because it has been so dry I have had to soak the moss every other day to keep it from completely drying out, that may help keep the humidity up around the plant.

I think the moss that I use on top, really helps with keeping those surface roots from getting too dry. . .the roots down in the bark chips don't dry out so much.

I can see quite a few tips of the roots on some of my Neos that I have in my grow rack. I use those as a sort of barometer for the rest of the plant. . .if the tips of the roots are a beautiful translucent ruby or plum color and are sort of shiny and moist, I feel like I am on the right track. . .humidity just about right.

Will you post a picture of that covered rack? I may want to try that.

Sure! I'll try to do that tonight or tomorrow.

I have the Juliana Grow Rack. I think if you Google it, you'll find it. It was about $60 but I also got the extra cover too.

It works like a charm!
