Thanks, Ross. It looks like you just need a few more days and they should start to recurve back and really open up. I see one in the photo that is nearly there... the others should follow along shortly. Keep us posted! (And you should get more scent when they do... though I have found that some plants have a scent all of the time, others the scent is barely there - even of the same variety.)

Shannon

WOW,they are fantastic. I only wish we could see them in person. They always are much nicer than even the pictures show.

How many neos do you have now? How have you potted them? Are they the traditional method of potting?

Thanks for the lovely photos, Shannen. It's really nice to see the different varieties to compare. Looks as though they're enjoying life at your house!

Ross, Your's is a real beauty too. Nice going!

Thanks everyone! And yes, Shirley, you are very right - I am really enjoying sharing my house with these babies! I just counted and there are at least 12 more with spikes and buds that will flower soon, so there's gonna be more photos to come! I'm also really loving the fact that I can study the different kinds in detail - comparing growth and scent and form. Its like heaven!!

Marilyn, I only have a few plants of my own, however, I was left with quite a few after Tatton Park Orchid Show as Glenn couldn't take them back to the US with him. So I'm looking after them for him!

My own plants are in Erin pots - or will be shortly when my next order from Vic arrives this week! Not quite tradition, but all of them are in sphag - I love growing things in sphag, it works really well for me.

Here's a pic of a couple of mine:

Blackorchid... you would be surprised how much fragrance these little flowers can have. Some are definitely more fragrant than others, but the ones that are really fragrant can fill the room with their scent.

Shannon, never did detect any fragrance from mine I did, however notice the blooms don't last really long. Like a couple weeks?

Fragrance seems to be very variable - even with the same 'variety'... some have been quite strongly scented, others had only faint or no scent. I've been lucky, and even the hybrid that I have flowering has at least some scent - though that one is not very strong, you have to get your nose right into it.

The photo above of Hakuhou Fukurin was taken today. The flowers on that one opened on 10th July. (And this plant has been taken to the local Orchid Society meeting and back again, with the corresponding changes in temp/humidity/etc.) I'll let you know how long these last!
